NADIUN OHOIDERTAWUN & ANCIENT CLIFFS PAINTING

NADIUN OHOIDERTAWUN
& ancient cliffs painting

Located in Ohoidertawun village on the western part of Kei island, south East Maluku Regency. It is about 14 km from Langgur, the capital of South East Maluku Regency.
The Moluccan prehistoric rock art On the north coast of Klein-Kei are the cliffs, they stretch from east of the present village Ohoidertawun, about 1 km along the cliffs to a number of ridges seen. At these ridges are numerous rock drawings made.

At low tide you can strike out across the sand from beside the bottom of the steps. Splashing through streams you pass small caves (local people colled Gua Vid Nit) cut in limestone cliffs, some containing human bones.

The cliffs by the people shunned as places where spirits roam. Stalactite In fits and starts printing the country, there are stalactite rise. The hollow stalactites give gusts - particularly in the monsoon - sound. By the inexplicable sound of this, it was thought that this was caused by supernatural forces of our ancestors who were housed in these caves.

Also you can find a series of red and orange PETROGLYGPS painted on the cliff-faces.

This idea was also fueled by the mysterious drawings were found. This human-like figures, hand-negative stools, masks, sun symbol, etc., The weathering of the red figures indicate that the drawings are certainly a few thousand years old. The white figures date from around the Christian era up to 1000 years after Christ. There are also figures that probably the first encounters with Europeans indicate.
Although some design look new, many are antique, unique and their origin baffles archaeologists.

The Best Time To Visit Kei Island Southeast Maluku Regency

The best time to visit Kei is between October and December, when the weather is dry and the sea is calm. Between January and April, a strong wind blows from the west, causing rough seas and making inter-island travel is difficult. Rains less in Kei than in many parts of Maluku.

Ohoi Ohoiwirin

Welcome to My Village, Ohoiwirin. Come and See.
