NADIUN OHOIDERTAWUN
& ancient cliffs painting
Located in
Ohoidertawun village on the western part of Kei island, south East Maluku
Regency. It is about 14 km from Langgur, the capital of South East Maluku
Regency.
The
Moluccan prehistoric rock art On the north coast of Klein-Kei are the cliffs,
they stretch from east of the present village Ohoidertawun, about 1
km along the cliffs to a number of ridges seen. At these ridges are numerous
rock drawings made.
At low tide you can strike out across the sand from beside
the bottom of the steps. Splashing through streams you pass small caves (local
people colled Gua Vid Nit) cut in limestone cliffs, some containing human
bones.
The cliffs by the people shunned
as places where spirits roam. Stalactite In fits and starts printing the
country, there are stalactite rise. The hollow stalactites give gusts -
particularly in the monsoon - sound. By the inexplicable sound of this, it was
thought that this was caused by supernatural forces of our ancestors who were
housed in these caves.
Also
you can find a series of red and orange PETROGLYGPS painted on the cliff-faces.
This
idea was also fueled by the mysterious drawings were found. This human-like
figures, hand-negative stools, masks, sun symbol, etc., The weathering of the
red figures indicate that the drawings are certainly a few thousand years old.
The white figures date from around the Christian era up to 1000 years after
Christ. There are also figures that probably the first encounters with
Europeans indicate.
Although some design look new, many are antique, unique
and their origin baffles archaeologists.
This spot
can be reached using a rental car or motorbike (ojek) or public transport based
in Ohoijang market.
